ODC’s Dental Program serves people without medical insurance of any kind. If you have health insurance, including Medicaid, but need to find a dentist, please scroll down to find a list of providers in Addison and surrounding counties who were taking new and emergency patients as of mid-2025.
ODC Dental clinics are held most Mondays at Middlebury Dental Group, located at 1330 Exchange St, Middlebury, VT 05753.
ODC’s Dental Program is a collaboration with Middlebury Dental Group, University of New England Extern Program, and the University of Vermont Dental Residency Program. We provide basic hygiene, including deep cleaning (scaling and root planing), fillings, root canals, bridges, crowns and simple extractions, providing interpretation if needed. We also refer patients to oral surgeons and orthodontists.
Please note:
- Visits are by appointment only.
- To be eligible for care through our dental program, patients cannot have any form of health or dental insurance, not even Medicaid or Medicare.
- Your household income must be less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.
- Patients must complete our new patient paperwork and be established as a patient at the Open Door Clinic prior to making a dental appointment.

Have insurance but need a dentists? In mid-2025, volunteers Darsie, Sophie and Rosa created a list and called over 125 State-licensed Vermont dental practices within 50 miles of Middlebury, so you don’t have to. We asked:
- Whether they set aside appointments to treat dental emergencies
- Whether they are accepting new patients
- How far out they are scheduling regular new patient appointments
- Whether they accept Medicaid
